Oct. 12, 2011, meeting minutes

Present: Brian Dexter, Bob Duval, Court Klein, Jennifer Sanctuary, Mike Whitten, Neal Warren, David Preece, Mike Davey, Julie Picard, Will Stewart

Chairman Bob Duval called the meeting to order at 8:04 a.m.

2. Update
Single stream recycling/Kevin Sheppard invite—City of Manchester Public Works Director Kevin Sheppard will discuss the City’s roll-out of single stream recycling during the 9 a.m., Oct. 26, meeting of the Joint Sustainability Committee at Southern New Hampshire Planning Commission, 428 Dubuque St. Green Committee members are invited to attend.

3. Green Pledge program
The committee thanked the Jennifer Sanctuary, Court Klein, Neil Warren and the rest of the BerryDunn green committee for their work to improve the Green Pledge application. Committee members then reviewed the application, line by line, suggesting edits where appropriate. The BerryDunn team will incorporate the suggested edits and have a finalized application by the November meeting. Once several website questions are answered and Green Pledge decals printed, it is anticipated the program will be ready to launch in January, 2012.

4. Green DASH rolling press conference?
Will Stewart suggested the committee coordinate a “rolling press conference” aboard the Green DASH to bring additional attention and ridership to Manchester Transit Authority’s free hybrid-biodiesel downtown shuttle. The committee liked the idea and agreed to attend the event and “pack the bus.” Will Stewart and MTA Executive Director Mike Whitten will meet next week to discuss the details, which will be shared with committee members.

5. Old/New Business

  • Bob Duval suggested holding another Green Summit, perhaps focusing on green transportation issues, in early 2012.
  • It was agreed to postpone the November meeting by one week, to Wednesday, Nov. 16, in order to allow members to attend the Chamber’s PechaKucha event at 7:30 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 9, at Derryfield Country Club. The event, which has a downtown theme, will feature a couple of green-related presentations, including ones on the Green DASH and the Manchester Food Co-op

6. Adjourn
Chairman Bob Duval adjourned the meeting at 9:28 a.m.
