CHAMBER ANNOUNCES VETERANS PARK INITIATIVE The Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce a new initiative called “Lunch in the Park,” a program that is designed to increase positive usage of Veterans Park by residents and businesspeople. The Chamber announced the initiative in partnership with the Manchester Parks & Recreation Department at a media event on Thursday, June 13. The Lunch in the Park Program is designed to increase the positive usage of, and the downtown business community’s connection to, Veterans Park. Lunchtime events will be held on from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 20; Thursday, July 18; and Thursday, August 18. Rain dates are scheduled as well. Participants are encouraged to bring a sack lunch or to purchase a prix fixe box lunch for $8.95 from participating downtown restaurants. “Improving Veterans Park, downtown Manchester’s largest and most prominent park, is a current focus of the Downtown Committee,” said Robin Comstock, President & CEO of the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce. “The park, which faces an array of challenges, is often the first impression visitors get when they come to downtown Manchester and we want to make sure that impression is a good one,” said Comstock. The announcement included representatives from local businesses that surround the park including Norri Oberlander, the owner of the Pembroke Building Luxury Apartments and Kim Roy, the general manager of the Radisson Hotel. Additionally representatives from the Chamber’s Downtown Committee, Manchester Parks & Recreation Department, the Manchester Transit Authority, Manchester Police Department, and Alderman Pat Long as well as the Granite State Ambassadors—volunteers who staff the visitor center in the park. A pix fixe lunchbox will be available for $8.95 on those set dates from the following restaurants: 900 Degrees, Belmont Hall & Restauarant, Café la Reine, Chateau Restaurant, Dos Amigos Burritos, Finesse Pastries, Ignite Bar & Grille, JD’s Tavern, Kimberly’s Bakery-Café, Midtown Café, Milly’s Tavern, Nadaeu’s Subs, The Rouge Grille, XO on Elm , Red Sauce Ristorante. The Manchester Parks and Recreation Department will provide live music and picnic benches for people to sit at. Additionally there will be areas available for attendees to share their Veterans Park improvement ideas.
