City Seeking Participation for Master Plan

A letter from the city regarding Planapalooza:

The City of Manchester is embarking on an update of the City’s 10 year Comprehensive Master Plan. Below is a brief overview:

“A comprehensive Master Plan is a policy document that details the City’s long-term vision and goals, and outlines the steps necessary to achieve them. The Master Plan is intended to guide growth and development in an organized, efficient, and sustainable manner.  To do so, it looks to the future to anticipate trends and issues that could impact how growth and development occur.  The plan is long range in scope, focusing on the ultimate needs of the community rather than the pressing concerns of today.”

Now until June 2020, there will be an ongoing planning process that will involve community outreach, citizen discussion groups, various data collection methods, and the analysis of the existing conditions of the City, all of which will result in a citywide vision created by the people.

It is imperative to the process that the city includes as much public comment and outreach as possible, for the best possible outcome of this update. In Manchester, we know big ideas can spring from small conversations and people invest in what they help create.  When we come together as a community to listen to and learn from each other, we have the power to impact both neighborhoods and lives.

Here are some ways in which individuals can be involved with the process:

On the Table Discussions

From now until September 10th, the city invites you and your families, neighbors, colleagues, and friends — old and new — to pull up a chair, gather around a table, and discuss the ways in which we — as individuals and as a collective — can improve the quality of life and economic vitality in Manchester.

The invitation list is up to you— and the conversation can be hosted anywhere.  Discussions are intended to be small and casual.  Get together in a setting that is convenient for you!

Before the conversation, make sure to visit to submit a Host Form and download the Host Toolkit with everything you need, including a conversation guide and suggested conversation prompts.
