In these challenging economic times, going green makes more sense than ever. Not only do conservation efforts save money, but businesses that employ such efforts enjoy an enhanced reputation among customers, employees—and potential customers and employees—which in turn can boost revenue.
To help members share their businesses’ commitment to the environment with their customers, clients and potential employees, the Chamber’s Green Committee created the Green Pledge.
The Green Pledge program allows Chamber members to gauge, via a questionnaire, your business’s current implementation of green practices and to get ideas for additional sustainable business practices that help both the environment and your bottom line. After submitting the questionnaire, you will have an opportunity to showcase your green initiatives with members of the Green Committee, who will visit your business to see your green practices, practices which can then be shared with other Chamber members.
Those businesses meeting the Green Pledge criteria will receive a Green Business decal for your window or door, as well as electronic version for their website. Customers who see this symbol will know your business is committed to the planet we all share—a claim bolstered by its designation by the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce. As a Green Business, you will also be designated as such on the Chamber website, the region’s go-to online business directory.

Green Pledge Testimonials
“The Green Pledge program was a great opportunity to identify what green practices were already in place at MTA and what future steps we could take to build on those in the future. Once we began the application, it was very rewarding to realize just how much progress we had already made towards greening our business and it energized our staff to keep working toward even more success!” – Mike Whitten, Executive Director
“The Green Pledge has helped BerryDunn put into perspective the green initiatives we have worked so hard to implement. We had green practices implemented that we were not even aware of until we took the pledge. Finally, by taking the green pledge we realize there are other green practices that would be easy for us to put into practice and have added them to our list of goals to accomplish over the next few months.” — Jennifer Sanctuary, Audit Manager
“Taking the Green Pledge encouraged our company and employees to explore more innovative and environmentally sustainable practices for PSNH that will further our commitment to greener solutions.” – Cynthia Trottier, Senior Analyst
“Like many businesses of late, our office has been trying to raise the consciousness among the office staff to manage the office using better green practices…The Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce is in essence raising the consciousness and the bar in how businesses can operate. For businesses that are now Green Businesses, this may be an added feather in any company’s hat, particularly for prospective clients, who may prefer environmentally sensitive, forward-thinking businesses or services with whom to do business.” — Christopher Morse, Architect
“Participating in the Chamber’s Green Pledge Application has helped us validate the steps that we have taken over the years to become a more environmentally conscious business. More importantly, it has also provided valuable insight into additional steps that we need to consider and implement to improve our green initiatives. As a manufacturing company with employee ownership, every employee at Admix takes great pride in our business as well as our community, and reducing our waste and impact on the environment is built into our culture. While we are not quite at the ‘champion’ stage, our Green Team at Admix is motivated more than ever to continue improvements to become a leader in the industry and area for our green practices. Thanks to the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce for giving us the challenge!” - Lou Beaudette, President
“As a green business it is easy for us at InkSpot to preach the environment benefits of refilling your ink and toner cartridges, yet it is another thing for us to look inward at our own green practices. Taking the Green Pledge was an eye opener. We realized we were more green than we originally thought, but we also found that there were additional steps (bottled water & green cleaning products) we could take based on the Green Pledge Checklist which would take us to the next level. As a member of the chamber’s Green Committee, I am in awe of the diversity, simplicity, & creativity of our chamber members’ sustainable business practices and the impact they have on our local environment.” – Mike Lynch
