The New Manchester Young Professionals Network Unveiled

The New Manchester Young Professionals Network Revealed

300+ attendees at November 2018 unveiling

A lively group of nearly 300 young professionals and business leaders in greater Manchester attended the unveiling of the new Manchester Young Professionals Network (MYPN), held in Manchester’s Millyard at Oracle Dyn, this past Thursday, November 29, 2018.

The event brought a sense of energy that MYPN events haven’t seen in quite some time, which proved to be a representation of what the future holds for MYPN. In addition, the large lawn games, interactive photo booth, music, conversation and snacks and cocktails by Tidewater Catering, added to the clear excitement surrounding the “New” MYPN.

After 14 successful years as a volunteer-run organization, MYPN merged with the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce (GMCC) in 2017 and both organizations have been working on a new strategic plan since. After a year of collaboration and creativity between the GMCC and MYPN, the YP Network’s new Mission, Vision, Membership and Event Opportunities were revealed to the crowd at Thursday’s event.

GMCC President & CEO Mike Skelton and MYPN Advisory Council Chair Laura Gamache welcomed attendees and dove into the details of who MYPN is now: MYPN is an initiative of the GMCC designed to Engage, Educate and Empower young professionals and emerging leaders. MYPN creates opportunities for connectivity, education and involvement in the Manchester workforce and community. MYPN welcomes individuals aged 21-39 (ish).

Gamache then joined Julia Whitney, incoming Chair of the MYPN Advisory Council and Marketing & Retention Specialist at the Manchester Economic Development Office and Brittany Flanagan, Chair of the MYPN Membership Taskforce and VP of People Operations at PillPack, for a panel discussion on what members of the Manchester Young Professionals Network can expect for 2019. Additionally, Whitney, Flanagan and Gamache explained to those in attendance how valuable community input was for the strategic planning process, what makes the mission and vision of MYPN so unique to our community, and how to get more involved with the YP Network.
