Rail Expansion to Manchester
Expanding and restoring rail service to Southern New Hampshire has long been a priority of the Chamber. Enhancing our multi-modal transportation system with rail service will aid efforts to attract talent to our workforce, unlock new economic development potential in the Manchester-Nashua corridor, help attract new flight options and carriers to Manchester-Boston Regional Airport, and provide a safe and reliable transportation option to citizens who are increasingly dealing with the traffic gridlock up and down this key business corridor with Greater Boston.
Over the next several weeks the legislature will be deciding whether to take the next step in moving rail expansion forward in New Hampshire – completing the project development phase of the NH Capitol Corridor Rail Project, a proposal to expand rail service from Boston to Nashua, to Manchester-Boston Regional Airport, and downtown Manchester. Governor Sununu recently announced his support for moving forward with the project development phase of the Capitol Corridor Rail Project, further highlighting that the time to move forward on this issue is now.
